 nd patent attorney Zach Stevenson of Ballard Spahr on Wednesday\, November
  11\, 2026\,  from 12:00 pm–2:30 pm for an in-depth look at the U.S. pa
 tent system.\n\nA patent is a right granted by the U.S. government to the 
 owner of an invention that is useful\, novel\, and non-obvious over the pr
 ior art. The owner of a U.S. patent may exclude others from practicing the
  invention for about 20 years after the filing date of the application whi
 ch gave rise to the patent. This seminar will cover what makes an inventio
 n “patentable” and provide an overview of the patent application proce

 es his practice on preparing and pursuing patent rights for inventors. Alt
 hough Zach’s primary practice is focused on utility patents\, Zach enjoy
 s preparing and pursuing design patents for inventors of consumer products
  and graphical user interfaces.  Zach was previously a patent fellow at G
 eorgia Lawyers for the Arts\, where he assisted first-time inventors obtai
 n patent drafting services on a pro bono basis. Before Zach attended law s
 chool\, he worked as a software developer in Orlando\, Florida.\n\nNOTE: T
