 em.\n\nA patent is a right granted by the U.S. government to the owner of 
 an invention that is useful\, novel\, and non-obvious over the prior art. 
 The owner of a U.S. patent may exclude others from practicing the inventio
 n for about 20 years after the filing date of the application which gave r
 ise to the patent. This seminar will cover what makes an invention “pate
 ntable” and provide an overview of the patent application process to bet

 actice on preparing and pursuing patent rights for inventors  Although Za
 ch’s primary practice is focused on utility patents\, Zach enjoys prepar
 ing and pursuing design patents for inventors of consumer products and gra
 phical user interfaces.  Zach was previously a patent fellow at Georgia L
 awyers for the Arts\, where he assisted first-time inventors obtain patent
  drafting services on a pro bono basis. Before Zach attended law school\, 
 he worked as a software developer in Orlando\, Florida.\n\nNOTE: This cour
