DESCRIPTION:Join our session designed to help artists understand and navig
 ate the U.S. copyright system. This program will introduce copyright law b
 asics\, explain the copyright registration process\, and discuss enforceme
 nt options\, including the Copyright Claims Board. We will also outline th
 e role of the U.S. Copyright Office and highlight additional resources ava
 ilable to creators.\n \nThe Copyright Office is committed to broadening p
 ublic awareness of what the copyright system includes and how individuals 
 can participate in it. A cornerstone of the Office’s current  strategic 
 plan is Copyright for All\, which reflects its dedication to making copyr
 ight law and services as understandable and accessible as possible to the 
 public.\n \nLaura Kaiser Bio\nLaura Kaiser is an Attorney Advisor in the 
 Office of Public Information and Education at the U.S. Copyright Office. S
 he amplifies the Office’s outreach efforts by presenting on copyright la
 w for a variety of audiences. She also supports her colleagues with advice
  on legal accuracy and clarity when developing public facing materials. La
 ura first joined the Copyright Office in 2022 as a paralegal with the Copy
 right Claims Board\, where she helped establish a new dispute resolution f
 orum for copyright issues. Prior to joining the Copyright Office\, she ear
 ned a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a B.A. in 
 Comparative Literature from New York University.\n \nSarah Lateer Bio\nSa
 rah Lateer has been a law clerk in the Office of Public Information and Ed
 ucation at the U.S. Copyright Office since the Fall of 2025. She earned he
 r undergraduate degrees in Marketing and English from the University of Co
 nnecticut and is continuing her education at UConn School of Law\, where s
 he is pursuing a J.D. and a Certificate in Intellectual Property. At UConn
  Law\, Sarah has worked in the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship 
 Law Clinic\, assisting local entrepreneurs with trademark and copyright ma
 tters. Her passion for copyright law is rooted in her lifelong admiration 
 for literature\, theater\, and creative innovation in the technology space
 .
